MEP/FP Engineering
Vanderweil is a full-service engineering firm that specializes in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering.
Mechanical
Our comprehensive MEP/FP design capabilities allow Vanderweil to deliver engineering solutions to high standards of coordination and quality. Subsequently, this unified approach allows our multi-disciplinary teams to leverage practical and innovative sustainable design strategies that maximize operational efficiency. This commitment benefits not only our clients but also the planet, as we integrate sustainable HVAC solutions, energy-efficient electrical systems, water conservation practices, and cutting-edge fire protection technologies into our designs.
Our mechanical services include:
- Heating, ventilation and air condition (HVAC) systems
- Sustainable design integration
- Energy modeling
- Instrumentation and controls, and building automation systems
- Power engineering
Electrical
Our goal is to conceptualize and develop safe, reliable and effective electrical systems, with flexibility for growth and change – systems that can sustainably support the life of buildings long into the future. Our design of lighting systems is integrated with the architectural designs to enhance natural lighting, which, in addition to our electrical distribution design, contributes significantly to reducing the building’s carbon footprint.
Vanderweil designs life safety systems, including fire alarm, emergency lighting, and smoke exhaust, and the electrical infrastructure to support them.
Our electrical services include:
- High and medium voltage substations and distribution systems
- UPS, emergency, standby, and mission critical systems
- Low voltage distribution systems
- Lighting, lighting controls, photometric, modeling
- Grounding and lightning protection systems
- Power quality and harmonic analysis
- Short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, and load flow studies
Plumbing
The Vanderweil Plumbing and Process Piping Group plays a critical role in Vanderweil’s water conservation and sustainable design effort. We have designed many projects where rainwater, condensate and other waste water streams are harvested and treated for reuse. We have expertise in systems engineering across multiple building types. Our practice includes the design of gaseous, purified water, process water, process waste, bio waste and plumbing systems for hospitals, vivaria, laboratories (including BSL-2 through BSL-4) and industrial projects. Our designs also include specialty plumbing for sports facilities, casinos, pools and fountains and other unique applications.
Our plumbing services include:
- Building plumbing, drain, waste, and vent systems
- Domestic, process water, medical and waste anesthetic gas and vacuum systems
- Biowaste and effluent decontamination, waste neutralization / treatment
- AAALAC vivaria and specific pathogen free (SPF) facilities
- Water conservation and recovery, rainwater harvesting
- ASTM NCCLS / CAP high purity water
- Validated systems – WFI sterile / USP purified systems
