Sterling Power Plant generates steam and chilled water for the surrounding Yale School of Medicine academic and research laboratory facilities, as well as the Yale New Haven Hospital.
An existing three million gallon below grade thermal storage tank was drained and space was converted for the new cogeneration plant. The new combustion turbine generators including the HRSGs, exhaust breachings, electrical switchgear, substation equipment, and the balance of the plant equipment, as well as a new control room is located inside the newly created plant room.
