Vanderweil partnered with the UMiami Medical Center to perform an ASHRAE Level 2 energy audit and retro-commissioning for its medical campus. The campus is comprised of 32 buildings with an area of 4.7M sf. Its facilities include the 475-bed UHealth Tower, the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (as noted below).

Following an information-gathering effort and coordination meetings with the University, Vanderweil’s team of engineers conducted a comprehensive on-site audit of building systems across the campus.

While this investigation was underway, the team developed a master list of potential ECMs along with the associated financial payback. Regular meetings with University Facilities staff and end users provided valuable input throughout the process.

Vanderweil prioritized its recommendations according to UMiami Medical Center’s primary objective of improving patient care. These became part of a comprehensive final report that helped guide the University in its efforts to advance its position as a healthcare leader.
