Pennsylvania State University added to existing infrastructure to expand their Department of Agriculture. The Pennsylvania State University Henning Building replacement project helped to solidify the College of Agricultural Science’s standing as one of the top-ranked agriculture programs in the country.
The historical front portion of the structure was protected while the back section of the existing structure was demolished to make way for a new addition. This provided the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Science, and the Department of Animal Science with improved space that meets the needs of new technologies and teaching approaches.
The new addition has three upper levels with laboratories, a vivarium facility, research spaces, general purpose classrooms, department offices, and support and collaboration spaces.
LEED energy modeling was used for this project. The Henning building achieved LEED Silver.
