The Jefferson Hotel is a historic nine-story, 5-star 89,500 beaux-arts brick hotel filled with European and American antiques and Jeffersonian artifacts. The building, built in 1923 as private apartments for Washington “society,” opened as a hotel in 1955. The current renovation encompassed all 99 guestrooms, including 21 suites.
Among these were a selection of wellness rooms and three spacious (as large as 2,200 sf) Presidential, Bridal and Spa suites. Additional features of the hotel include a new fine dining restaurant in the central lobby that is surrounded by hand-painted scenes from Monticello, two “Jefferson Cabinet” meeting rooms, an exclusive spa, and a 24-hour well-equipped fitness room.
The intent of the renovation was to upgrade the hotel, comprised of a 71,000 sf main building, a 4-level 13,000 sf annex, and a 5,500 sf adjacent townhouse, from a 4- to 5-star status.
