Project sheet narrative: Cambridge Crossing is a new 43-acre mixed-use campus for Sanofi that was developed from the ground-up in its efforts to consolidate multiple remote sites and operations.
The 12-story, 510,000 sf building at 350 Water Street is primarily dedicated to Sanofi’s biopharmaceutical research operations. The facility blends into the Cambridge Crossing neighborhood with ground-floor retail, terrace, an adjacent green space with a playing field and fixed fitness equipment, and direct access to two MBTA stops.
Vanderweil provided MEP/FP engineering and technology design services for the fit-out of the building, working closely with the base building design team to integrate the infrastructure systems to support Sanofi’s operational requirements.
The lab building achieved LEED Gold certifications. The campus incorporates state-of-the-art environmental features, including automated light dimming, CO2 sensors, and advanced heating/cooling systems, among others, to use energy and resources efficiently and to provide a healthy workspace. The building also incorporates features such as solar PV arrays.
