The transformation of Princeton University’s 1947 Dillon Gym reimagined a historic athletics facility as a dynamic destination for recreation, wellness, and community. The renovation and expansion modernized the facility to better support today’s students, while improving accessibility, maximizing space, and expanding program offerings. The result is a welcoming, flexible hub that strengthens connections across campus and enhances the student experience.
Vanderweil provided MEP engineering and energy modeling services for the transformation of Princeton University’s historic Dillon Gymnasium into the new Class of 1986 Fitness and Wellness Center. The project combines the renovation of the 1947 Collegiate Gothic facility with significant new construction, creating a modern recreation and wellness destination while preserving the character of a campus landmark.
Sustainability was a key driver of the design, with energy-efficient systems supporting Princeton’s goal of achieving LEED Gold certification while advancing campus-wide sustainability initiatives.
