Originally constructed in 1962, Dodger Stadium is one of Major League Baseball’s most recognizable venues and a longstanding landmark in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Dodgers undertook a multi-year restoration and renovation program to modernize the historic stadium while preserving its character and supporting the evolving needs of fans, players, staff, and stadium operations.
Upgrades were carried out during the off season over several years and included the addition and upgrading of concessions, clubs, restaurants, retail areas, player training and locker spaces and stadium mechanical and electrical infrastructure. Vanderweil Engineers provided engineering services as part of the project team, supporting upgrades to the stadium’s mechanical and electrical infrastructure alongside improvements to public and team spaces. Work was phased over multiple off seasons, allowing the stadium to remain operational throughout the baseball season while construction activities were carefully coordinated within an active venue.
The renovations included upgrades and additions to concessions, premium clubs, restaurants, retail areas, player training facilities, locker rooms, and other support spaces. Building infrastructure was also modernized to accommodate new and renovated spaces, improve operational performance, and support the stadium’s expanded amenities and technology.
The project required careful coordination of new systems with the existing stadium infrastructure, including work within a complex facility that has evolved over more than six decades. Phasing and construction coordination were particularly important to maintain stadium operations while completing work within tight off-season schedules.
Vanderweil’s engineering scope helped support the transformation of Dodger Stadium into a more modern, flexible, and operationally efficient venue while maintaining the identity and legacy of the original facility.
