Vanderweil Engineers partnered with Colby College, a recognized sustainability leader and the longest-standing carbon neutral institution in the US since achieving carbon neutrality in April 2013. Our collaboration aimed to develop a campus energy master plan, focusing on achieving full beneficial electrification by 2040.
As part of this endeavor, our team provided engineering and sustainability consulting services to support Colby College’s goal. The master planning effort encompassed the evaluation of decentralized and centralized electrification options, along with a steam-to-LTHW campus conversion.
Working closely with Colby College, Vanderweil Engineers carefully assessed various technologies to electrify the campus. Through our expertise, we developed a strategic roadmap consisting of yearly capital projects, setting the trajectory towards full beneficial electrification by 2040.

This comprehensive master planning effort signifies the commitment of Colby College and Vanderweil Engineers to advancing sustainable practices. By laying the groundwork for electrification and collaborating on innovative solutions, we are collectively working towards a greener and more resilient future for Colby College and beyond.
