Vanderweil is providing mechanical and electrical engineering services along with energy modeling and sustainability consulting for a comprehensive renovation of the Marriner Eccles and 1951 Constitution Avenue government office buildings, which are interconnected by a sub-grade tunnel. The renovation will provide the Federal Reserve Board with the ability to consolidate all its operations in these two renewed buildings instead of leased workspaces throughout Washington, DC.
The buildings will feature offices, dining areas, conferencing facilities, a central plant, support space, and parking facilities. The renovated areas will address critical functional mission requirements of the owner. Vanderweil’s is focusing on the critical infrastructure serving the facilities to ensure their reliable, safe, and energy efficient operation.
Mechanical upgrades to the buildings will include the integration of a heat recovery chiller, heat pump water heaters, and an innovative wastewater heat recovery system. The facility will take advantage of chilled beam systems, radiant floors, and displacement ventilation to achieve a comfortable and healthy building atmosphere while minimizing energy usage. Rooftop solar photovoltaic arrays will also be added to the facilities as part of the project.
