The University of Cincinnati’s Old Chemistry Building, originally constructed in 1917, has been thoughtfully transformed into a contemporary, interdisciplinary hub for research and teaching while preserving its historic architectural character.
The project balances restoration and innovation, revitalizing the original structure for academic use and introducing a new addition purpose-built to accommodate high-performance laboratory environments.
Vanderweil Engineers provided MEP/FP engineering and sustainable design services for comprehensive renovation and new construction. The result is a cohesive, future-ready facility that strengthens research capabilities, supports experiential learning, and elevates the overall student experience. This project achieved LEED Gold certification.
