The new Collections and Conservation Resource Center located on the University’s Virginia Science and Technology Campus is comprised of approximately 25,000 sf of museum support and approximately 30,000 sf of academic incubation space. The Collections and Conservation and Resource Center features environmentally controlled collections storage space, study/curatorial workroom, collections management, and collections processing facilities. There is a 2,500 sf conservation laboratory and 1,000 sf of exhibition space. In addition, the building features a reception/lobby area, conference/break room, and offices. The academic wing is flexible and scalable to allow for maximum efficiency in future growth of academic departments and include any combination of laboratories, offices, or classrooms. The building shell design and systems accommodate this flexible growth plan.
