The first of five buildings planned for Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Building I contains two key functions: a flight simulator and a data center.
The data center is extremely load intensive, with an electrical and cooling design criteria of 1,500 w/sf of IT load.
Final programming has resulted in a building slightly exceeding 110,000 sf and $31 million, not including the cost of the simulator and the I.T. equipment. The three story building incorporates the data center below grade, the flight simulator at grade, and office space on the second floor. The building design complies with standards for anti-terrorism, as well as SAPF – Special Access Program Facility, and SCIF – Sensitive Compartmental Information Facility.
