The new 194,500 sf state-of-the-art Chemical and Biomedical Engineering Building is a research and instructional laboratory facility housing faculty and administrative offices, a large lecture hall, several shared computer classrooms, instructional and computational labs, life science and biomedical labs, and fume hood intensive chemical research labs.
Designed to support both academic and research programs, the shared space between the chemical and biomedical departments helps drive collaboration and innovation.
The upgrade of the campus utility infrastructure to the building includes connections to the campus high and low pressure steam system, chilled water system, electrical distribution, as well as tel/data loop.
The project is LEED Gold and was executed via the design-assist method. It was a recipient of AIA Philadelphia’s Sustainability Recognition Award.
