The International Spy Museum is a privately owned museum dedicated to the history of espionage that features the largest collection of international espionage artifacts currently on public display.
The new seven-story building is located at L’Enfant Plaza in Washington, DC. The museum features a lobby atrium, 49,000 sf of exhibit space, 23,000 sf of special event space, a museum shop, and staff offices. Additional features include an outdoor plaza, a rooftop terrace, and a flexible space for educational and special programs.
Vanderweil supported this landmark project with MEP/FP engineering, sustainability consulting, and technology design services. The museum’s infrastructure systems include a 600-ton central air-cooled chiller plant, a 4,000 MBH heating hot water plant, and a 37,000 CFM energy recovery ventilation system. These systems allow for the tight control over temperature and humidity necessary for preserving the invaluable exhibits.
This landmark facility has been recognized with multiple industry awards. These include the Architectural Engineering Institute’s Most Innovative Project Over $100M and ENR’s Mid-Atlantic Best Project Award.
